FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 17, 2015

Burlington, Ontario– Carlisle Technology and BIO (Bridging Intelligence Opportunities) today announced a partnership designed to extend and streamline data exchange between on-farm systems and in-plant systems. This new partnership will help to ensure smooth flow of information along the food supply chain, benefiting each business involved as well as the consumer.

“Integrating Carlisle’s Symphony in-plant productivity and traceability software with BIO’s bioTrack on-farm animal information database opens up new opportunities for food processors to understand the quality and value of their products” says John deVries, President of Carlisle Technology. “The extended traceability information could be used to help a processor differentiate their products and brand, and reward producers based on animals they provide that meet the desired characteristics”.

“Working with Carlisle broadens the base of information that can be connected farm to fork” says Mike McMorris General Manager of BIO. “The Symphony system is an excellent extension to our bioTrack system while also complementing our strategy for bioLinks. With this partnership, we can jointly offer compelling in-plant options that will meet the unique requirements for almost any food processor, regardless of their production sophistication, scale or budget. Having more processing linked with bioTrack on-farm information is a big step forward in allowing progressive business owners and consumers to benefit from information.”

In addition, Carlisle expertise will now be readily available to bioLinks clients through the source, supply and implementation of weighing and labelling technology.

About BIO

For over 20 years, BIO has been connecting information or “bridging intelligence” along the food supply chain. Our bioTrack system is unlike other livestock management software as it was built with a philosophy of information sharing, is web-based, is multi-species, comes with excellent ongoing support and ensures data security. Information on an animal travels with that animal to subsequent and previous owners. Through bioTrack, farmers can access genetic evaluations on all of their animals, including crossbreds. Our bioLinks system is an inventory, sales and processing system aimed at small and medium size processors. One BIO client is using both systems to provide individual animal information to consumers via a QR code on individual cuts of meat. This level of information flow forward and backward along the beef supply chain, long called for in many industry studies and strategies, has the power to change businesses and the industry at large.
