Care and Cleaning Instructions for the Protector 3800/4800/5800/E-series workstations
General Precautions
- Do not change any fuses while the unit is plugged into an electrical outlet.
- Do not unplug or install the keyboard while power is on.
- Do not shut down the unit or remove the power source, unless the system is at the Main Menu or Login screen.
- If you experience any problems contact maintenance immediately
Environmental Inspection and Cleaning
- To prolong the life, Carlisle recommends that the workstations be covered with a plastic drop cover or a heavy-duty vinyl cover during plant wash-down procedures.
- If the unit is damp, carefully wipe the base of the upper casing before opening the unit.
- Check the units (and printer enclosures) periodically for excessive moisture. If it is found to be damp inside, let it dry out in an office over a weekend.
-> If damp, please verify the seal around the unit. Contact Carlisle Technology Service Department if it needs to be repaired or replaced. - Do not leave the case open unless servicing the unit.
- Do not place or store any foreign objects inside the 3800/4800/5800/E-Series (or printer enclosures) like cleaning supplies, gloves, food, beverages, etc. We’ve seen everything….
- The metal casings of the units can be cleaned with warm water and mild dish soap.
- If your units require more vigorous cleanings please contact Carlisle Technology Service Department to arrange a maintenance call.
Touchscreen Care and Cleaning
- No sharp objects are to be used on or around the touch screen.
- Never strike the Touch Screen – always use gentle pressure to operate the unit.
- If experiencing any problems, contact maintenance right away
- The touchscreen is sensitive to abrasion and chemicals, so it is recommended that only warm water be used in it’s cleaning
- If a touch screen becomes dirty:
- soak a soft towel or cloth in warm water, and wring most of the water out so as toleave the towel still damp. Use this to carefully clean the touch screen.
- Use a dry towel to wipe off the excess moisture left behind, so water does not leak into any small cracks around the mounting bezel*
*Note: The 3800/4800/5800 units have been designed and tested to withstand a high pressure and high volume of water, exceeding IP65 specifications.
However - seals will deteriorate over time, and with consistent high pressure spraying directly on the touchscreen, water may enter the unit.
Carlisle Service Technicians will regularly inspect units during a preventative maintenance visit, and Carlisle recommends regularly inspecting the interior of the unit for moisture. Units needing their seals replaced will need to be sent to Carlisle’s Service Department (recommended every 2 years).
Please contact Carlisle for an RMA# before shipping units.
